Railway Control System

Best Relay Manufacturer In India - Integra Engineering

With the Indian Railways dominating the transportation system it has become self-evident that there are multiple bodies providing technical and mechanical support to keep the system updated and running smoothly. Integra Engineering is one of the relay manufacturers in India that provides fail-safe solutions for the passage of trains.

What is Relay?

The relay is an electrically operated switch that works on the principles of electromagnetism used to send electrical signals from one circuit to another through a set of contacts.

They are used where multiple circuits are to be controlled by a single signal or a circuit is to be controlled by a low-power signal.

The relay system includes an electrical protection relay which is designed to trip a circuit breaker in case a fault is detected.

The types of relays manufactured and supplied by various automotive relay manufacturers in India like Integra Engineering are:

  • Interlock Relay

The relay that is composed of two or more coils, each with its own armature and associated contacts, so arranged that movement of one armature or the energizing of its coils is dependent on the position of the other armature.

  • Neutral Relay

The relay in which the movement of the armature does not depend upon the direction of the current in the circuit controlling the armature. Also known as a non-polarized relay.

  • Interlocking Relay

The type of relay that is composed of two or more coils. Each coil has its own armature and contacts it is associated with. The arrangement is so that the movement of one armature or the energizing of one coil is dependent on the position of the other armature.

Power system protective relaying are those types of relays whose main function is to detect the defective lines or any other faults in the power system that are abnormal or dangerous in nature and initiate an appropriate control circuit action.

  • Common Features

    • For each type of relay, a standard plugboard is used to mount the same.

    • Each type of relay comes with the facility of pre-wiring.

    • The wiring or plug board connectors can be terminated by both crimping or soldering.

    • To prevent wrongly plugging in the relays, they come with registration devices with specified coding combinations. To establish an electrical connection between the relay and the plugboard the code pins should be engaged correctly.

  • Relays in Railway Signalling

Relay manufacturers for Railway Control System say that the system of relays is used to keep trains on the right track and conduct traffic. Since trains are heavy, produce immense inertia and run on fixed tracks the chances of collision increases substantially.

The relays that are used for railway signalling are mostly large considering voltages and currents that are switched are small. The railway signalling circuits are highly reliable that use special techniques to detect and prevent failures in the relay system.

There are two main types of relays used for railway signalling:

    • Track relays - They are connected across the track circuit.

    • Line relays -The relays that are used for any other purpose except for track are the line relays.

We at Integra Engineering introduced the Metal to Metal TM type signalling relays for the Indian Railways with technical collaboration with INTEGRA Holding AG, Switzerland. Integra Holding AG is a Swiss financial holding company with shareholdings in markets across the world.
