Process Engineering - Lab Technician

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collect raw material, in-process, and finished product samples for analysis.
    • Conduct routine and special tests as per defined process parameters and standards.
    • Support trials of new materials, methods, or technologies.
    • Assist process engineers in validating manufacturing processes.
    • Record, compile, and interpret test results to ensure process compliance.
    • Identify deviations and support corrective action implementation.
    • Operate laboratory instruments such as spectrometers, hardness testers, tensile machines, microscopes, etc.
    • Ensure calibration and proper maintenance of lab equipment.
    • Handle and monitor PT line chemicals, ensuring correct dosing and bath maintenance.
    • Perform titrations and chemical analysis as per supplier recommendations.
    • Maintain PT line reports and document chemical consumption.
    • Prepare reports for engineers and management teams.
    • Support compliance with ISO/TS, customer requirements, and audits.
    • Assist in trials for continuous improvement projects.
    • Follow all EHS protocols in handling chemicals, machines, and samples.
    • Ensure waste disposal as per company and regulatory guidelines.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Diploma / B.Sc. in Chemistry, Mechanical, or related discipline.
    • 1–3 years of experience as a Lab Technician in manufacturing / process industry preferred.

    Skills

    • Knowledge of process testing standards (ASTM, ISO, BIS, etc.).
    • Knowledge and hands-on experience in PT line chemical handling and bath maintenance.
    • Knowledge of laboratory instruments and their uses.
    • Knowledge of chemicals commonly used in laboratory testing.
    • Ability to perform titrations accurately as per supplier guidelines.
    • Knowledge of PT line report preparation and documentation.
    • Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, ERP systems for reporting).
    • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
    • Good communication and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

    Working Conditions

    • Laboratory and shop-floor environment exposure.
    • May require shift work depending on process requirements.
    • Handling of PT line chemicals with mandatory use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, lab coat, mask).
    • Work involves both chemical lab and production support activities.
